JOB SUMMARY
The Security Guard is responsible for ensuring that the SCHC Properties, its building, equipment, supplies, grounds, and parking lots are monitored for the security and safety of SCHC employees, patients, and visitors and that all is in working order.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor SCHC Properties (exterior and interior), grounds, and parking areas for unusual or unsafe conditions.
Ensure the safety of SCHC Staff entering and exiting the clinics to and from the parking lots.
Unlock doors and disarm alarms for opening of normal daily operations.
Secure clinic for closing; Sets Alarms (if necessary).
Lower the American Flag daily.
Respond to CODES: Blue (Stat-Medical Emergency), Red (Fire), Gray (Combative Person), Silver (Person with Weapon/Hostage, YELLOW (Hazardous Material Spill) and ORANGE (Internal/External disaster), Green (bomb threat) when necessary.
Enforce No Smoking, No Skateboarding Policies and Handicap Parking laws.
Escort Staff to and from vehicles when requested.
Check operation of exterior and parking lot lighting.
Observe and Monitor cleaning crew to ensure safe and secure operation.
Participate in incident and accident investigation.
Responsible to assist with annual fire drills and record event.
Perform any requests pertaining to organizational needs as requested by the Facilities Manager.
NIGHT SHIFT SECURITY GUARD JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Raise the American flag daily
Patrol all SCHC properties, check doors and windows, and all matters that affect safety and security.
Hook up and store the generators at any sites needed, during a power outage issue.
Monitor medication and vaccine fridges/freezers on regular rounds to ensure temperatures within recommended ranges.
Respond to any medicine or vaccine fridge/freezer alarms
Inspect Fire Extinguishers monthly and report any issues to the Lead officer.
Assist Lead Guard with fire alarm system testing annually, assist at all sites as needed.
Fire sprinkler system testing annually, assist at all sites as needed.
Respond to emergencies and after-hours alarms at all locations.
Transfer and transport of medication or vaccinations as needed in an emergency situation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Good communicator (orally, and in writing) with professional attitude in order to promote good relations with staff, patients and visitors
Ability to follow written and spoken instructions
Must be fit and display an attitude of confidence and assertiveness.
Be able to work independently, with little supervision.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum two years Security Guard experience; prior law enforcement; military experience; or equivalent combination preferred.
California Guard Card Required.
Complete the 40 Hour Security Guard Training (including the Skills Training Course for Proprietary Private Security Officers of 16 hours).
Complete 2 hours of continuing education yearly (starting after the first year of employment).
Obtain a current chemical agent (Pepper spray) training certificate.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience working in an outpatient clinic or doctor's office.
