Description: We are working with a manufacturer in the Quincy, MA area seeking an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Lead that will be responsible for overseeing the design, installation, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems throughout their operations. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, automation technologies, and project management skills. This position will be responsible for a team of techs that will serve as a more strategic hands-on leader.
Responsibilities
Design and Development:
Develop and implement instrumentation and control systems to meet project requirements.
Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed projects.
Create detailed design specifications, drawings, and documentation.
Installation and Commissioning:
Oversee the installation of instrumentation and control equipment.
Coordinate with other project teams to ensure timely and efficient completion.
Conduct commissioning activities to verify system functionality and performance.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures.
Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures.
Coordinate with vendors and contractors for repairs and upgrades.
Project Management:
Manage instrumentation and control projects from inception to completion.
Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.
Monitor project progress and make adjustments as needed.
Team Leadership:
Lead a team of instrumentation and control technicians.
Provide training and mentorship to team members.
Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and codes.
Conduct regular audits and inspections.
Prepare documentation for regulatory submissions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
8+ years of experience in instrumentation and control systems.
Strong understanding of automation technologies (e.g., PLC, DCS, SCADA).
Proficiency in instrumentation and control design software.
Excellent project management skills.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
