Judge Healthcare is seeking Paraeducators for a local school in the Lancaster, PA area ASAP!
Position Details:
Title: Paraeducator
Location: Lancaster, PA 17601
Type of engagement: Contract throughout the school year
Hours: Hours vary depending on school, 7.5 hour days: Elementary, Middle, Education Center, Intermediate, Primary, Floating Positions (multiple)
Specific Duties:
- Work with special needs students in a school, providing behavior and academic support and assist in implementing an effective educational programs for the students assigned by their case manager/behaviorist.
- Assist in providing instruction and meeting special needs which includes feeding, toileting, positioning, and monitoring health conditions of students with disabilities.
- Provide instruction as directed by teacher to individuals or small groups in a variety of areas including cognitive, gross and fine motor skills, feeding skills, self help skills and behavior control.
- Assist teacher in maintaining health and safety of physically handicapped students by being aware of environment and the potential hazards of each child's actions.
- Assist students with personal hygiene, including washing hands and faces, toileting, and changing diapers and clothing as needed.
- Monitor and control student behavior in accordance with established guidelines.
- Assist other specialists with physical development activities.
- Prepare students for mainstreamed classes according to established procedures.
- Attend periodic and special training and in-services related to medical interventions and instructional program as required.
- Assist students with braces and other orthopedic equipment to lift, position, and reposition students as needed.
- Assist teacher in maintaining a variety of records related to student progress
- Implement positive behavior intervention support policies.
- Collaborate with case workers, general education teachers, and other staff as needed.
- Assist students in social interactions.
- Work cooperatively with others and independently as needed.
- Perform other duties similar to the above in scope and function as required.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- High School graduate, GED or equivalent
- Experience with Special education or Behavioral Health
- Hold a PA Paraeducator Credential of Competency Certificate (or be willing to complete the FREE online program within 6 - months of hire date)
