Job Title: Bilingual Database Administrator (Spanish/English)
Location: Plano, TX (Remote)
Job Summary: We are seeking a bilingual (English and Spanish) Database Administrator with over 5 years of experience in managing traditional server-based relational databases (PostgreSQL and MongoDB) in public cloud environments, specifically Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Certification:
Azure Fundamentals Certification (AZ-900) - REQUIRED
Google Cloud Associate Engineer - REQUIRED
Responsibilities:
Manage PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. Administer PostgreSQL databases on Azure, GCP, and AWS RDS, leveraging features like automated backups, maintenance, and scaling. Optimize complex SQL queries for performance improvements. Set up and manage monitoring tools for PostgreSQL on GCP, and configure alerts based on performance metrics. Implement and test backup and recovery strategies for PostgreSQL databases on AWS RDS, Azure SQL, and GCP Cloud SQL. Design and implement disaster recovery plans for PostgreSQL databases on AWS RDS, Azure SQL, and GCP Cloud SQL. Ensure database security principles and best practices are followed. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in PostgreSQL databases. Provide 24/7 support at L2/L3 levels. Update knowledge base articles, problem management articles, and SOPs/runbooks. Deliver outstanding customer service with excellent written and oral communication skills. Apply ITIL foundation principles. Work independently with minimal supervision. Share domain and technical expertise, providing mentorship and cross-training to peers and team members. Collaborate with end customers, business stakeholders, and technical resources.
Basic Qualifications:
8+ years of operational experience. 5+ years of experience as a cloud DBA on GCP (PostgreSQL/MongoDB). 3+ years of experience in diverse cloud support database environments in a 24/7 production support model. Proficiency in query fine-tuning for MongoDB. Experience with shell scripting for monitoring tasks such as slow queries, replication lag, node failures, and disk usage. Expertise in automated backups and restores using shell scripts/Ops Manager. Conduct comprehensive database health checks, including slow queries, fragmentation, and index usage. Perform upgrades (Java version, Mongo version, etc.). Manage data center outages and other maintenance tasks. Design database architecture based on application requirements. Write best practices documents for sharding and replication for development/application teams. Handle log rotation and maintenance for MongoDB. Design user roles and responsibilities for segregation of duties. Develop disaster recovery and continuity of business plans. Profile databases, monitor locks, memory usage, connections, and page faults. Export and import data to/from MongoDB and configure MongoDB runtime settings. Manage data in MongoDB capped collections and handle expired data from TTL. Monitor database issues at server, database, and collection levels using various tools. Install and configure database software according to client standards. Perform database migrations and updates. Manage capacity for MongoDB. Tune server performance and provide recommendations. Implement high availability solutions. Conduct root cause analysis for business-impacting issues. Experience with SQL, SQL Developer, TOAD, PgAdmin, and MongoDB Atlas. Preferred experience with Python/PowerShell scripting. Secondary skills in MySQL/Oracle are preferred. Experience with DB2 is a plus.
