The Head of Logistics is a key member of the Plant Leadership Team, serving as a true business partner to the Plant Manager. The overall objective is to develop short-term and long-term strategic plans for this function to drive continuous improvement through improved efficiency, cost reduction and/ or improved service delivery while achieving of all elements of our customer scorecards. Areas of Focus will be:
Strategy: Develop the vision / roadmap to support long-term strategy and future growth of the organization while managing the day-to-day operations of the logistics.
KPI Achievement & Relationship Management: Plan, manage, and coordinate all logistics operation to ensure outstanding supplier relationships while achieving all elements of our customer scorecard and plant KPIs. Work with vendors to develop a robust supply chain. Manage EDI requirements.
Material Planning & Material Flow: Manage the procurement of mass production raw material while balancing physical inventory and preventing line shutdown. Implement best practices related to forecasting and supply inventory control.
Warehouse & Inventory Management: Manage warehouse operations including stock management related to shipping, cycle counts, efficiency, accuracy & stock return. SAP input/management. Manage scheduling and loading/unloading of all incoming/outgoing containers. Coordinate and implement consignment materials, future inventory, and warehousing concepts.
Miscellaneous: Establish, report, and review team measurables. Establish and track departmental budgets (expenses, inventory and transportation). Develop, implement and sustain the 5S culture. Determines root cause thru tools (A3, 8D, 5-Why, Kaizen, etc.) and works with direct reports/peers to implement effective countermeasure.
Your Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related discipline, from a four-year college or university.
10 years of experience in Logistics in a manufacturing environment (strong preference for automotive); material flow experience is strongly preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of management experience, preferably covering all areas of responsibility for this position.
Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills are required.
Proven skills in strategic implementation / department optimization.
Extensive experience working with MRP and JIT principals.
Ability to provide decisive leadership and team facilitation in the face of adversity - define tasks clearly, identify and coordinate resources, and execute a go-forward plan.
Ability to define goals, metrics, and levels of success for internal/external customers.
Proven planning abilities, including successful execution of such plans.
Proven execution of change management within an organization.
Must have strong initiative and the ability to work well in a team environment.
Proven success operating in a high ambiguity environment is required.
SAP proficiency is strongly preferred.
Global or multi-national business experience is a plus.
