This Statement of Work covers the need for student services to develop software and computer-based solutions in
order to evaluate the impact of data processing on the uncertainty characterization of meteorological sensor
measurements and instrument ranges located at NIWC Pacific.
The ORFALA project will develop a Kalman filter software suite capable of processing meteorological data in realtime to improve data integrity in laser beam quality metrics such as Power In Bucket. The available filtering
methods will be adaptive, robust, and data-driven while benefitting from Continuous Integration / Continuous
Deployment best practices (version control, unit tests, and containerization). Accurate knowledge of the atmosphere is critical for High Energy Laser (HEL) applications (e.g., test events and threat mitigation). The ORFALA project provides a mechanism for reducing sensor-inherent errors such as missing data points, time-varying noise, and outliers. The goal is to provide the warfighter high quality data for an optimal decision strategy.
