Willow Creek Healthcare Center, a skilled nursing facility in Clovis, CA, is seeking a dedicated Director of Staff Development (DSD) with an LVN license to oversee and coordinate all staff training and development. This role is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining educational programs that ensure our team is equipped with the skills, knowledge, and certifications required to provide high-quality care to our residents. Key Responsibilities:
Staff Training & Education: Develop, coordinate, and implement orientation and ongoing training programs for new and current staff to ensure they meet regulatory and facility standards.
Compliance: Ensure all training complies with state and federal regulations for skilled nursing facilities, and manage required certifications and continuing education for staff.
In-Service Programs: Plan and conduct in-service education programs on topics related to patient care, safety protocols, infection control, and facility policies.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all staff training, certifications, and continuing education, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Onboarding: Facilitate the onboarding process for new employees, providing a positive introduction to the facility and training on critical procedures.
Collaboration: Work closely with the facility administrator, nursing leadership, and department heads to identify and address staff development needs.
Emergency Preparedness: Develop and deliver emergency preparedness training and drills, ensuring staff is equipped to handle various scenarios.
Quality Assurance: Participate in quality improvement activities, contributing insights on training effectiveness and areas for improvement.
Resident-Centered Care: Promote a culture of resident-centered care by ensuring staff training aligns with the facility's commitment to compassionate and respectful care.
Qualifications:
Active LVN license in good standing in California.
DSD Certification in California (or willingness to obtain).
Experience in skilled nursing or long-term care is strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations for staff training in a skilled nursing setting.
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to train and engage staff.
Organizational skills with a keen attention to detail in managing training records and schedules.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and provide hands-on training for extended periods.
Occasional lifting or moving of objects up to 25 pounds.
