ERM is seeking a Civil Project Engineer to join our technical Capital Project Delivery team in Charleston, West Virginia. In this role, you will provide engineering design and technical assistance on developing projects and site work engineering and construction projects for clients locally and nationally.
As a Consultant Engineer, you will contribute your leadership, client relationship, and technical consulting skills to support the growth of ERM’s business and client base while networking with ERM's global Capital Project Delivery technical team and technology experts to share best practices across the industry. Key Skills/Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering, or related engineering field. Consideration is also given for geotechnical/geologic focused candidates.
Has obtained Professional Engineering license in one of the following states: KY, WV, OH, PA, MD, NC, VA, or DC, or is willing and able to seek reciprocity within one year of hire.
At least 2-3 years of progressively more complex civil and infrastructure design experience, including consulting for private-sector clients. Consideration will also be made for candidates with strong field experience including construction inspection/oversight in earlier parts of their career.
Strong skillset in AutoCAD Civil 3D including grading, profiles, and integrating survey data. Candidate should have at least 3 years of prior experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D for these purposes.
At least 2 years of experience with NPDES stormwater/wastewater permitting, environmental plan writing (e.g., SWPPP, SPCC Plans, etc.) and stormwater permitting or have the willingness and passion to learn.
Experience with other types of federal, state, and local permitting such as USACE or willingness to learn.
Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite software.
Demonstrated ability to research and prepare concise and accurate technical documents.
Ability to work both independently and as a collaborative member of a project team.
Strong interpersonal communication skills, which includes being comfortable and effective at communicating complex technical knowledge and concepts to other staff, clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
Responsibilities
This position will focus on environmental support projects for our clients which include a mixture of application and practice of civil and environmental engineering design and principles as well as permitting. A candidate with desire to do both is ideal.
The successful candidate will support the Principal Consultant and other team members including engaging in project meetings, delegating, mentoring and overseeing the work of more junior staff, and be responsible for high quality work and deliverables.
Manage multiple projects concurrently. Projects are often fast-paced, multi-faceted, and geographically diverse.
Manage small and medium scale projects, either single or multi-site, on time and to budget including elements such as scope and delivery requirements, budgeting, resourcing, planning, coordinating field and other technical work, and managing health, safety, and risk aspects. There is potential to assist with management on larger projects or sub-tasks on those larger key projects.
On a project-basis, act as client point of contact, and lead the engineering/permitting team approach and delivery to client.
Generate technical proposals and participate in business development with existing clients.
Maintain client relationships to support repeat business.
Engage with key regulatory agencies, including the state officials for permitting.
