The Autodesk CAD Manager will be responsible for managing drawing/model production utilizing Autodesk software, primarily Civil 3D, quality and training across multiple groups and offices within the company under the direction of the Autodesk Design Technology Manager. The successful candidate will manage production expectations in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high standard of precision and accuracy, while bringing enthusiasm for technical excellence, training, and mentorship to this leadership role. Creative problem solving, effective communication and strong interpersonal skills are a must.
What You Will Do: The Autodesk CAD Manager will
Work with service delivery areas across the Company to standardize work processes and implement technological initiatives.
Coordinate with Information Technology to plan and execute Autodesk software updates and rollouts.
This position will assist the Design Technology Manager in creating best practices of various BIM/VDC applications throughout the design and construction process using Autodesk products.
Work with Design and Technical Leads to review and improve the QA/QC process and will maintain a technical Skills Matrix to identify user skills sets that can be used by Project Managers for project team planning purposes.
This position will also maintain and further refine current training programs for early and on-going staff development, both for office and field staff.
Continuously improve and/or develop CAD resources such as templates, blocks, catalogs, line types, LISP routines, and tool palettes
The Autodesk CAD Manager will remain active in production and must stay current on the latest design trends and software applications. Workloads, project expertise and mentorship responsibilities will require this position to always remain active in drawing/model production.
Assist end-users with technical issues and provide troubleshooting support as required.
Review and recommend third-party applications and solutions as needed.
Must also be able to travel to other WSB offices as needed to providing on-boarding, training or technical assistance on an as-needed basis.
What You Will Bring:
Formal AutoCAD and Civil 3D training with a minimum 10-years working knowledge of Autodesk products in a production role required, or AS Degree in a Technical discipline with at least 8-years working knowledge of Autodesk products in a production role required, or BS Degree in a Technical/Science discipline with at least 6-years of working knowledge of Autodesk products in a production role required.
5 years of previous management experience in a production engineering environment.
Thorough knowledge of Surveying practices and Civil Engineering design principles.
Must be able to utilize Civil 3D to produce complex surfaces, grading plans, profiles, pipe networks, corridors and able to utilize AutoCAD and associated tools for plan production.
A desire to teach and mentor.
Functional knowledge or understanding of Autodesk AEC collection applications such as InfraWorks, NavisWorks, Revit, Project Explorer, Dynamo, Vehicle Tracking, Grading Optimization.
Functional knowledge or understanding of BIM 360 and Autodesk Construction Cloud
Experience with Autodesk integration in ProjectWise a plus, but not necessary.
Experience in using Bluebeam
Possess a valid driver’s license a good driving record.
