The Director, Direct Procurement Value Creation directs and oversees all activities related to upstream productivity and value creation for direct materials. The Director will lead and facilitate cross – functional teams to ensure ongoing interaction with key stakeholders to derive critical business needs and requirements and is responsible for overseeing the definition, establishment and execution of business-critical value and continuity creation initiatives. This includes responsibility to uphold and continuously evolve sourcing strategies, delivering the strategic vision and goals of the business and ensuring execution of all value creation activities. Accountability, Productivity, and Continuity are keys to success. This role requires a vast understanding of the global market, the manufacturing environment and network and resulting impacts to buying power and cost control.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with senior leaders to establish both short and long-term business objectives. Identify, develop, and manage strategic business relationships to enable implementation of the corporate growth strategy and value creation initiatives.
Coach and foster the evolution of a diverse team to uphold a value creation mindset to enrich end to end sourcing strategies and ensure compliance with strategic sourcing process. Foster an engaged workforce and a foundation for the company culture
Oversee and continuously enrich the forward portfolio of value creation initiatives, across the direct procurement categories to ensure multiple facilities receive quality, and timely, innovative and value driven materials. Drive continuous improvement through industry best practices and other indicators to monitor and measure the effectiveness and service level of the procurement organization to deliver productivity and create value
Identify metrics, tools, and processes to optimize sourcing strategies. Develop and implement protocols and practices to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of strategic initiatives. Anticipates key supplier problems that could affect supply continuity to inform best practice value creation initiatives and to help continuously enrich sourcing strategies.
Utilize Procurement expertise to develop in-depth knowledge of suppliers and evaluate their capabilities to help drive solutions and value for internal business partners. Ensure continuity of supply through the development of business continuity plans
Assess supply market for key spend pools to identify supplier footprint/supply chain optimization opportunities. Leverage corporate buying power and identify corporate partners. Make recommendations designed to reduce costs and improve value. Identify and develop key business terms and conditions including penalties and incentives provisions.
Evaluate suppliers through the lens of quality and service provision capability. Assess and recommend supplier consolidation opportunities. Plan for future operations of departments with emphasis on efficiency and effectiveness in meeting the needs of customers. Manage the procurement execution process for value creation, resolve problems, mitigate delays, help to mediate disputes and escalate issues. Continue to develop standard policy and procedures for the organization
Coach and drive the development and adoption of procurement best practice processes across the organization, as well as across relevant stakeholder groups
Adhere to the highest service quality standards as well as bring innovative new ideas to the team. Remain current with advances in Procurement management enabling technology
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance or related field. Master’s Degree or MBA strongly preferred
Minimum of 10 years of management experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, and/or Finance
Master communicator to be able to outline vision, implement strategy and sell to the broader organization
A robust knowledge of the external factors that drive internal decisions – industry leading insight, global understanding of the various markets that influence cost and availability of supply
Experience, knowledge and proven success with a consumer goods manufacturer
Understands contract management and ability to execute complicated contracts with the support of the legal team
Obsession and passion for excellence
Strategic thinker and problem solver with excellent business judgment
Experienced in organizational design and building high performing teams
Lead and develop a team to ensure we are getting the most out of the individuals and we are putting the effort in to coach and train where necessary
A financial and analytical acumen with experience in setting strategy, leading transformational change and major project management. In addition, experienced in designing and improving business process to increase operational efficiency
Proven ability to implement comprehensive sourcing/purchasing programs. Proven track record in implementing cost-reduction initiatives
Ability to balance the relationship of suppliers, with the needs of the business.

Compensation Range: $196,800.00 - $295,200.00, plus bonus.
