Position Summary
Brief Description of PSU/School/Dept
The mission of University Housing & Residence Life (UHRL) is to provide a unique living experience in Portland’s urban environment through actively engaged residential communities that promote student success.
Position Summary
The Coordinator for Marketing and Conference Operations provides strategic support for two areas of Housing Operations.
Marketing:
Serve as the tactical lead in recruiting students to live and dine in UHRL facilities in an effort to increase occupancy, retention to the halls, and student satisfaction.
Support the strategic enrollment and retention goals of PSU by working closely with PSU Admissions and New Student Programs.
Work closely with University Communications in the implementation of comprehensive university and department marketing goals, consistent message development, and contribution to the university brand identity.
Represent UHRL at recruitment and outreach events.
Make decisions about and implement department communications to internal and external audiences.
Supervise student staff to support UHRL marketing and communications efforts.
Conference Operations:
Coordinate the efforts to provide a successful conference program, utilizing vacant residence hall rooms to generate revenue for the housing system.
Work with new and returning groups to promote conference services and determine feasibility of a successful stay in UHRL. Communicate frequently with group leaders.
Complete the contracting process with groups.
Manage the booking information for each conference group, including loading rosters before arrivals.
Oversee the recruitment and interview process for up to three interns who support Summer Housing & Conferences.
Oversee the recruitment and hiring of a student team, often in conjunction with intern support.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree.
Experience in event planning and coordination.
Experience in hospitality services or marketing and communications.
Project management experience and time-management skills for supporting multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Familiarity with various marketing platforms and channels, including social media, print campaigns, digital marketing and email promotions.
Basic knowledge of or ability to learn graphic design software.
High degree of creativity and innovation to develop unique, effective marketing strategies.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Experience providing excellent customer service.
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel occasionally.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in college student housing or college student affairs
Experience managing reservations or similar processes
Experience working in a Summer Housing and Conference program
Experience training and supervising students
Competence in use of design software and applications such as: Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign.
Knowledge of Drupal or other content management systems
Demonstrated experience in producing marketing plans and materials with knowledge of various promotion and assessment techniques.
Proficiency with web and marketing analytics platforms.

40 hours per week usually Monday to Friday, including some evenings and weekends.
Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement
Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.
The starting annual salary for this position will be between $51,984 and $56,172 but may be negotiated above this rate dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
