Manufacturing Process Engineer - Summer Internship - May- August 2025
Join us this summer as a Manufacturing Process Engineer Intern at Hypertherm Associates! Collaborate with exceptional colleagues, build lasting relationships, and engage in rewarding activities. Our engineers are hands-on and focused on continuous improvement, helping to make industrial cutting more accurate, cost-effective, and safe for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead process improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma practices.
Optimize manufacturing processes to enhance quality, reduce costs, improve safety, and increase earnings.
Work with a variety of machinery and processes, including multi-axis CNC machines, assembly equipment, laser marking, and packaging equipment.
Design tooling, fixtures, and workstations essential for new product introduction to production cells.
Required knowledge, skills, education, and experience:
Currently enrolled in an engineering-focused college degree program (industrial/mechanical engineering preferred)
Junior (you have completed a minimum of 2 years) and are in good standing
Enthusiastic about learning with the ability to work collaboratively in a team, as well as independently on selected projects
Strong problem-solving skills, with a passion for getting to the root cause of issues
Proactive and enthusiastic about implementing new technology and continuous improvement
Preferred Experience that differentiates you:
Internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing environment
Proficiency in lean manufacturing, statistical analysis (Minitab), geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), SolidWorks, value stream mapping (VSM), design for manufacturability (DFM), process failure mode effects analysis (pFMEA), and structured problem solving.
