This position will serve as Supervisor of the Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences Electronics Shop. The incumbent will be responsible for personnel management, job prioritization, and oversight of the quality and schedule of work in the shop. The incumbent will develop shop procedures and goals for serving the Dietrich School at large for review by the Director of Shared Research Support Services (SRSS) and implement approved procedures. Works with the Director to ensure services are accessible, efficient, and cost effective across the Dietrich school. Promotes a culture of safety and compliance to all relevant Dietrich School and University policies.
Performs varying complex assignments of rapid prototyping, CNC machining, plastic injection molding, and vacuum casting. Utilizes appropriate software, designs unique experimental equipment, provides maintenance, and troubleshoots issues. Supervises team and advises on the use of laboratory equipment. Conducts analyses and performs financial duties.
Represents the shop at meetings with EHS, Chairs, Deans, Shared Research Support Services meetings, and to initiate coordination with EHS and across Shared Research Support Services as needed.
It is necessary to be able to climb ladders and lift weights to approximately 50 pounds. Extended standing, crouching and working in cramped locations is sometimes required.
