Technical Writer

Contract Position




$45.00-$50.00/Hour



Be part of an operation that focuses on the sustainment and modernization of tactical aircraft, ensuring they remain ready and capable. This facility is a cornerstone of aerospace maintenance and support, providing essential services to enhance military aircraft's operational life and capabilities.




Responsibilities:

• Provide repair dispositions and fabrication requirements for discrepancies discovered during aircraft maintenance, modification, and overhaul tasks, particularly those outside the scope of contracted work (Over & Above tasks).


• Utilize engineering source documents to offer technical direction, including references for technicians to carry out necessary repairs, while also providing estimated labor budgets and materials.


• Handle negotiations with customers when repair requirements are challenged and conduct spot checks with Operations personnel to identify improvement opportunities.


• Resolve planning document issues, provide detailed reports, and process planning changes to support hangar floor and flight line operations.

Qualifications:

• 
  Experience:
  
  
  
  • 2-4 years of experience in the F-16 aviation/aircraft maintenance field.
  
  
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering documents and drawings.
  
  
  • Experience planning the sequence of work and using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  
  
  • Familiarity with differentiating basic vs. Over & Above contractual requirements.
  
  
  
  


• 
  Clearance: N/A


• 
  Additional Experience:
  
  
  
  • Preferred: Experience with Solumina software.
  
  
  • Experience estimating aircraft repairs, writing technical documentation, and utilizing military technical manuals.
  
  
  • 1-2 years of experience with cost estimation.
  
  
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
