Compensation: The starting annual base salary range for this position is $58,460-$70,000.

The Associate will be responsible for creating content across multiple platforms that aligns with Vassar’s style, brand and storytelling goals. They will work closely with all areas of the Communications Department to provide content creation, writing, editing, and social media support for Vassar’s communications. This position will be a part of the core team responsible for capturing the school’s stories and sharing them across channels.
Responsibilities
Develop content for Vassar’s primary social media channels, the web, the College’s monthly eNewsletter, and print.
Shoot video and photography.
Collaborate with colleagues to research and develop story ideas.
Adapt content for use across platforms.
Edit and proofread a variety of materials.
Monitor content for consistent style and branding.
With the support of the director of social media, schedule social posts and support the management of Vassar’s primary platforms including engagement assessment, reporting, and other analytics.
Collaborate with client departments and organizations within the college to streamline their social media presence and maintain a social media inventory of accounts and administrators.
Effectively use technology to support effective project management, internal communications, manage social media, publish external communications and maintain accurate records of media placements and content deployment.
Collaborate with other members of the communications team to cover major events and campaigns.
Cultivate relationships with Vassar students and partner offices across the college to support their effective storytelling.
Manage campus events listings and draft announcements and listings for local media.
Qualifications
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
Undergraduate degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in content creation or equivalent combination of experience.
Familiarity with social media, storytelling, and brand development.
Creative thinker with proven content creation skills.
Ability to quickly learn and adopt the tone, style, and visual brand of the College.
Experience adapting content for various communications (emails, the web, print materials, social media) and different audiences.
Keen writing, editing and proofreading skills.
Experience with photography and video production as well as editing tools.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects with varying deadlines and across multiple teams to successful completion.
Proficiency with Microsoft, Google and Adobe Creative Suites, content management systems, analytics, email-marketing platforms, and project management and communication tools.
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities:
Nonprofit, journalistic, or higher education experience.
Experience using Slack, Asana, Mailchimp, Sprout or equivalent systems.
