Reporting to the HVAC Supervisor, the HVAC Lead performs at the journeyman level to install, repair and maintain refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation equipment.
Job Summary:
Performs preventative maintenance on refrigeration equipment.
Removes and repairs, adjusts and/or replaces defective parts as appropriate.
Installs new and replacement air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems.
Checks newly installed equipment to ensure proper operation.
Assists in laying out scheduled work and obtaining necessary materials.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED,
Five years of experience repairing and maintaining refrigeration and heating equipment,
Universal EPA certification, and
Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Vocational or technical training and
Experience with related computerized control systems.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Summary:
Knowledge of refrigeration and related heating/cooling equipment.
Working knowledge of the tools and procedures used in equipment maintenance.
Some knowledge of PCs, including knowledge of related computerized control systems.
Ability to diagnose and repair defects in compressors and condensers/heating systems.
Ability to drive university vehicle to/from work sites.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
Ability to work independently and in all types of weather.
Ability to read blueprints of electrical, piping and duct systems.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and co-workers.
Travel/Overtime Requirements:
Ability to work nights and weekends during emergencies. On-call rotation.
