Assistant Professor of English at Buena Vista University in Lakeside, Iowa

Job Description:

Buena Vista University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English position, beginning August 2025. We seek dynamic candidates with the ability to teach undergraduate courses in writing and composition at all levels. The successful candidate may also be tasked with coordinating and training undergraduate student tutors in the Center for Academic Excellence. This position carries a teaching load of 24 credit hours per academic year, along with responsibilities in academic advising and participation in university committees. A Ph.D. in English, Linguistics, or Composition is preferred; ABD candidates will be considered.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong teaching skills, a commitment to student-centered advising and mentoring, and active engagement in university service. Candidates must have experience teaching first-year composition and creative writing. Background and interests in American literature and linguistics will be considered a plus.
