Job Role Summary
The Inventory Technician maintains accurate inventory counts in stocking locations and evaluates inventory levels, recommending adjustments based on historical supply use and the needs of patient care areas. The Inventory Technician reports to the Supervisor and/or Manager of Receiving and Distribution.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's Mission: Advocate, Care, Teach, and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County; models Eskenazi Health's values of Professionalism, Respect, Innovation, Development and Excellence
Maintains accurate inventory counts in stocking location(s) as assigned by the Manager or his/her designee ("Manager") and in compliance with policies and procedures
Assembles specialty carts as assigned; delivers supplies and equipment to all patient care areas as assigned
Evaluates inventory levels and recommends adjustments based on historical supply use and the needs of the patient care area
Communicates recommended inventory level adjustments, stock outs and back order status to appropriate Nursing staff representative and Manager
Uses handheld barcode scanning device(s) to order and/or issue supplies for the assigned stocking location(s)
Conducts cycle counts on a regular basis of all JIT and special order supplies as directed by the Manager
Checks and regularly rotates supplies with expiration dates to the front of the storage location; removes outdated (expired) supplies from inventory stocking location(s) and disposes of them per manufacturer's instructions
Maintains orderly, clean, and organized inventory locations
Job Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to read, write and perform basic math functions
Inventory/stockroom related experience preferred
Prefer knowledge of medical terminology and medical supplies
Ability to operate powered pallet trucks and portable hydraulic equipment
Ability to use personal computer and various software applications including: Microsoft Word and Excel
Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Detail-oriented with proven organizational and problem-solving skills
Actively participates in staff in-service educational program when required
