We serve 25 counties in Northeast Georgia, offering programs such as Financial Assistance and Nutritional Assistance to support those in need. Our team is passionate about making a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer, and we seek dedicated individuals to join our mission-driven organization.Position OverviewThe Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the financial operations of The Cancer Foundation, ensuring accurate and timely accounting processes. This role oversees financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, accounts payable (including financial assistance payment), and compliance with regulatory standards. The Accounting Manager will work closely with the Executive Director and other staff members to support the financial sustainability and growth of the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting Management & Reporting:Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders, including the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.Conduct a monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, credit cards, and investment accounts.Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring sufficient funds for operational needs.Payment Processing:Process and manage the payment of all financial assistance grants, ensuring accurate and timely disbursement of approved funds to vendors on behalf of clients.Oversee accounts payable, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments to vendors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.Manage the payment of organizational expenses, ensuring accuracy and adherence to budgetary guidelines.Maintain detailed records of grant payments, accounts payable, and expense transactions for auditing and reporting purposes.Revenue and Donation Processing:Record and manage all incoming deposits, including donations, grant payments, and other revenues.Ensure accurate and timely entry of deposit records into the accounting system.Reconcile deposits with bank statements and maintain thorough documentation.Procurement and Vendor ManagementOversee procurement, including purchasing office supplies and other necessary resources for organizational operations.Assist the Executive Director in evaluating and selecting vendors and ensuring cost-effective purchasing practices.Coordinate with vendors for services, equipment, and maintenance as needed to ensure smooth daily operations.Maintain accurate records of purchases and monitor spending to align with the approved budget.Budgeting & Forecasting:Assist the Executive Director in developing the annual budget and provide ongoing analysis of actual performance versus budgeted figures.Provide financial forecasts to support strategic planning and decision-making processes.Collaborate with program managers and departments to monitor grant budgets and ensure compliance with funding requirements.Payroll & Benefits Administration:Process payroll promptly and accurately, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.Oversee employee benefits administration, including retirement plan contributions and health insurance enrollment.Compliance & Audit:Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including IRS guidelines for nonprofit organizations.Coordinate the annual audit process, working with external auditors and providing necessary documentation.Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures to ensure best practices are followed.Grant Management & Restricted Asset Reporting:Track grant income and expenses, ensuring proper allocation of funds and adherence to grant guidelines.Prepare financial reports for grantors and donors, demonstrating transparency and accountability in using funds.Other Duties as AssignedQualificationsBachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting.Proficiency in QuickBooks Online accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Excel and Outlook) is preferred.Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.Proficiency using donor management software, payroll software, credit card processors, CRM, and expense management services. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.Commitment to the mission of The Cancer Foundation and sensitivity to the needs of those affected by cancer. Work Environment:This position is based in our Athens, Georgia office, with occasional opportunities for remote work.Typical work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Fridays, 8:00 AM to Noon, with occasional evening or weekend hours required for special events or deadlines.The Cancer Foundation is an equal opportunity employer.
