The City of Warren is accepting applications for the position of Building and Safety Engineering. An employee in this position will perform administrative and managerial duties in planning, directing and coordinating operations of the Division of Building and Safety Engineering of the Department of Public Service. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of building construction, permits, inspections and compliance within the municipality, state and federal guidelines.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or a closely related field. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of seven (7) years progressively responsible experience in building inspection, code enforcement or construction management with at least two (2) years' experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
Thorough knowledge of local, state and federal building codes, zoning regulation and construction standards.
Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills.
Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g. building permit management systems, GIS and Microsoft Suite)
Possession of valid driver's license to operate a vehicle in the state of Michigan.
Driving record must meet City standards for insurability.
Pay rate: $113,166/year - $129,112/year dependent upon credentials
