Job Description: The Director of Finance builds and manages the accounting and finance department. He or shewill establish accounting principles, practices, and procedures. The Director maintains allaccounting records and develops, analyzes, and interprets accounting information to determinefinancial results against business plans and compliance with generally accepted accountingprinciples.The Director of Finance will serve as a strategic advisor and partner to the CEO and companyleadership. As an integral member of the Executive Team, you will support business unitleaders in developing financial plans and managing investor relationships.Responsibilities:Formulates, recommends, and administers accounting and cost accounting related policies to ensure that proper financial controls are in place.Monitors practices to ensure compliance with agreed business plans, operating expenses and costs, budgets, and generally accepted accounting principles.Prepares financial statements and models for internal and Board purposes and provides relevant financial information to designated members in the organization on a timely basis.Develops systems and procedures for the accounting department and provides financial controls including regular audits.Develops and maintains positive relationships with all levels of internal and external clients.Participates in federal and state tax planning and review. Reviews specific transactions for tax implications. Responsible for all corporate tazes. Supervises the preparation of tax information required by the company and outside Certified Public Accountant (CPA) firms.Responsible for the implementation of a new general ledger to ensure it meets Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) government accounting requirements.Ownership of all government billing and accounting for government contracts.Acts as the primary liaison with all external auditors.Develop finance and accounting rigor in preparation for first year audit.Other duties as assigned.Desired Skills and Experiences:BS/BA in Accounting or Finance required.CPA with 10+ years in accounting and finance management.Experience with government contract accounting is desired.Experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Experience with public company accounting is highly preferred.Strong working knowledge of financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting, accounting, risk management, and tax.Hands-on manager with integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic environment.Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model.An effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with strong oral and written skills.Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically advanced skills in Excel).A collaborative and flexible style with experience operating in a startup environment and managing investor relationships.Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and patterns.Must maintain a high level of confidentiality, discretion, and tact at all times.
