Your Role
The Packaging Operator 1 (Launch Program) at MilliporeSigma will work part-time while receiving tuition support to simultaneously attend school full time, at a participating school designated by the company. Using this innovative model, you will be trained and developed by industry professionals, and apply your education in real-time while building towards a career! The Packaging Operator 1 will manually or semi-automatically, cap, label and over-pack liquid products per approved packaging specifications while utilizing all necessary safety equipment.This position will be full-time during summer and winter breaks, and part-time (minimum 24 hours per week) during the school year. There is flexibility with hours based upon class schedule. The Operator will contribute to packaging operations, and will perform the following tasks:
Overpack and label filled units for shipping in compliance with shipping regulations
Complete packaging documentation to ensure 100% accuracy for quantity shipped and labels used
Adhere to all Safety directives, including but not limited to Personal Protective Equipment
Weigh materials using precision equipment into specified containers
Maintain equipment, tools, and facilities in a safe, clean environment following 6S standards
Timely completion of learning assignments
Miscellaneous duties and tasks, as assigned
Strategic Impact
Impacts direct work team through accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of own work
Physical Attributes:
Wear appropriate protective gear, (hard hats, glasses/goggles, chemical resistant suits, gloves, safety shoes) and other personal protection equipment "PPE" to protect from toxic or corrosive chemicals in the forms of liquids, solids, vapors or airborne particles
Sit, stand, walk, reach above the shoulder, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, or crawl
Lift and move up to 50 pounds unassisted
Move more than 50 pounds with assistance
Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjust focus
Regular use of phones, computers, office equipment, and laboratory equipment
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Less than 2 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting
Willingness to start or continue enrollment at Lakeland University or other 4 year college or university, as designated by the company, for Spring 2025 semester
Preferred Qualifications:
2nd or 3rd year students majoring in a physical science (e.g. Chemistry or Biochemistry) or engineering (e.g. Chemical Engineering or Engineering Technology)
Completion of general chemistry and lab safety coursework, in addition to ongoing coursework in chemistry
Able to work independently as well as part of a team
