The Field Service Engineer is a field based customer facing role that includes installing, servicing, maintaining, and implementing field corrective actions to the BD Life science equipment at our customer sites in the clinical and research laboratories, as well as supporting Marketing exhibitions and clinical trials. BD has built a customer centric organization and our Field Service Engineers represent the face of BD to our Customers. The Field Service Engineer reports to the District Service Manager, and works directly with the district team Leads to obtain formal instrument training and field based OJT for certification on BD products. This position must comply with all Quality, GMP, ISO and safety regulations and adheres to company travel policies.

Responsibilities:
Provide service, preventive maintenance, modifications, and installations of BD Life Sciences equipment at Customer sites with minimal supervision.
Troubleshoot system failures and provide on-site customer repairs; responsible for delivering both timely and effective repairs.
Manage company assets including, company car, cell phone, computer, tablet, tools, inventory parts, etc.
Establish and foster positive business relationships with customers and peers
Perform administrative duties including, but not limited to, recording time worked, training, expense reporting, etc.
Provide ongoing feedback to customers in regard to instrument repair and status.
Interfacing regularly with the Technical Support organization in order to provide the highest level of customer support
Work closely with district team leads and dispatch to schedule and support customer base.
Qualifications:
High School diploma required. Associate degree in electrical, mechanical or similar engineering or Biomed program preferred
4 years' relevant experience or military equivalent
Must be computer literate in Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint and be able to utilize computer-based tools for reports, email and general communication
Ability to work both in individually and in team setting
Must be able to interface with customers, peers, and support personnel in a positive manner as well as the ability to think and act in a logical and methodical way.
Must be able to travel a minimum of 50%
Willingness and ability to work different shifts, on-call, nights and week-ends in case of need
Current valid Driving license and good driving record over the last 3 years is required
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 30 to 40 lb. objects from the floor to chest level
Ability to turn manual sockets, crescent wrenches, and screw drivers repeatedly over the course of an 8-to-10-hour day
Ability to sit, kneel, squat, bend, and stand repeatedly in a 8-10-hour period to assemble and repair instrument suites
Ability to push and pull objects weighing up to 70 lbs
Ability to perform fine motor tasks while reaching over the course of an 8-10-hour day
Ability to carry a 30 lb. pack on your back for up to 1 hour
Ability to drive distances of up to 6 hours, and in adverse weather conditions
Able to climb portable ladders and step stools
May be required to wear a respirator while servicing equipment, thus must be able to pass a fit test and annual spirometry.
