Program Assistant; CET & Camp Baker Job Title: Program Assistant; CET & Camp Baker Location: Boston/Waltham Position Type: Full-Time
Summary of position: The Baker Center for Children and Families (also known as Judge Baker Children's Center), promotes the best possible mental health of children and families through the integration of research, intervention, training, and policy. The Baker Center for Children and Families, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, is currently accepting applications for a full-time Program Assistant to provide a wide range of support services to the Director of Camp Baker/Assistant Director of Center for Effective Therapy (CET), as well as staff clinicians and internal trainees. The Program Assistant will report to the Director of Camp Baker/ Assistant Director of CET and will provide direct administrative and operational assistance in support of business operations at CET and Camp Baker. We are looking for an individual who is excited about supporting a collaborative, dynamic team of professionals working to improve mental health care for youth and families. Individuals seeking experience in the mental health field prior to applying to graduate school in clinical psychology or another related field are strongly encouraged to apply. Past individuals who have held this role have gone on to successful careers as child and family mental health professionals and have been competitive applicants for doctoral programs in psychology. Additionally, we provide an internal graduate school preparation workshop series. A minimum two (2) year commitment is required for the position. Essential duties: CET Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the intake process for families by conducting in-depth clinical phone interviews with caregivers, coordinating with providers regarding client referrals, answering clinic questions, managing assessment scheduling, facilitating case assignment, and maintaining client waitlists.
  • Participate in weekly supervision, assessment, and evidence-based practice meetings.
  • Support clinical staff by managing confidential documents and preparing supplies and equipment for assessments and treatment sessions.
  • Assist with office management services such as: checking in clients, processing payments, and communicating with clients via phone and email.
  • Coordinate with Directors of CET to maintain compliance with Department of Public Health standards.
  • Produce and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Assist in advertising and marketing efforts, such as creating, updating, and distributing brochures and other marketing materials.
  • Support the Directors of CET in other administrative and operational support as needed.
  • Administer, score, and interpret standardized assessment questionnaires and support undergraduate volunteers in these efforts.
  • Assist in writing portions of diagnostic assessment reports and pediatrician letters.
  • Administer behavioral assessments of children's emotional and social development during initial evaluation.
  • Use skills and principles of Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) to effectively engage in play with youth.
Camp Baker Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare, score, and interpret standardized pre/post-camp assessment questionnaires.
  • Assist and update the Camp Baker Operations Manual as needed.
  • Help streamline camper enrollment and staff hiring processes by responding to emails, answering voicemails, answering camp questions, sending materials to HR, and maintaining camper waitlists.
  • Manage all campers and staff paperwork to ensure all materials are submitted on time.
  • Review and interview prospective staff for first-round interviews once trained by the Program Coordinator.
  • Help prepare and coordinate staff training and summer materials at the Baker Center and Hale Reservation.
  • Collaborate and assist with data collection, coding, management, and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Assist and support summer staff with data entry, preparing daily materials, and other on-site support.
  • Prepare and coordinate parent night materials weekly throughout the summer, including room set-up, food, printed materials, movie set-up, etc.
  • Conduct literature and data searches/reviews.
  • Assist in writing portions of end-of-summer reports.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication.
  • Assist with other aspects of program development and evaluation as needed.
  • Participate in weekly supervision.
  • Use skills and principles of Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and Summer Treatment Program (STP) to effectively engage in play with youth.
Qualifications Education:
  • A Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Psychology, or related field, from an accredited academic program.
Experience:
  • 1 -2 years of clinical experience with children
Training:
  • Experience with statistical analysis for quality improvement or evaluation purposes.
  • Knowledge of mental health, education, child welfare, and/or juvenile justice systems.
