Job Summary
This position is for a Research Technician to provide general laboratory support and assistance to aid the Principal Investigator in conducting sponsored research on the role of the vasculature in lung development.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Maintains laboratory (Cleaning and storing glassware, maintaining stocks of sterilized glassware, plastic ware, and pipette tips, maintaining equipment and arranging repair when necessary, and/or supervising others in these tasks).
Plans individual experiments as well as long-term project goals.
Analyzes, summarizes, and presents data from experiments looking at the impact of vascular mediators on lung development.
General Responsibilities
Responsible for the initiation, monitoring, completion, and reporting of routine to moderately complex research studies.
Organizes and implements data review and analysis.
Oversees the proper handling of laboratory specimens including processes, shipping, storage, and documentation and transfer to designated central laboratories.
Conducts data quality assurance practices.
Prepares research summaries and assists in progress report development.
Maintains laboratory work areas and supply inventory.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Bachelor's degree in science or health-related discipline.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
Some laboratory experience.

Experience with equipment - Centrifuges, balances, cell culture equipment, gel electrophoresis, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machine, pulmonary function.
Working Conditions / Demands
The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary
$34,000 - $42,000 per year based on years of experience and internal equity within the department.
