Summary:
This position is located at our corporate office in Raleigh, NC. We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Staff Accountant with the ability to thrive in our fast paced, growing organization. This individual must be able to identify and resolve problems both independently and as a part of a team. Effective verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization along with strong organizational and time management ability are also required.
Responsibilities:
Interface with field accounting personnel for fixed asset accounting issues
Responsible for monthly journal entries related to PP&E activity
Heavily involved in the month end close process including preparation of depreciation, depletion and amortization entries
Assist with the transfer of assets within the organization and record any disposal of assets
Maintain and update the units of production schedules for mineral interest assets
Work closely with the Tax Department in their management of fixed assets for Tax Reporting
Prepare the fixed asset roll forward for monthly reporting
Preparation of various balance sheet account reconciliations
Review various GL integrity reports and resolve any outstanding issues
Assist with the annual Asset Retirement Obligation ("ARO") analysis process
Evaluate and recommend new approaches and procedures that result in process improvements and efficiencies
Provide assistance with any quarterly and/or annual reporting schedules
Assist with fixed asset related projects and other special projects assigned by management
Serve as backup for set up and closing of Capital Jobs
Ad-Hoc reporting and analysis
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus
Minimum of 1 year of relevant accounting experience
Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Must be a self-starter and a quick learner who can work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision
Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Excel; JD Edwards skills desirable
Detail-oriented with effective verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization
Strong organizational and time management ability
Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on capacity
