We are seeking a junior level research specialist to join a well-established lab researching the biology of T cell responses to cancerous cells. The new hire will play a central role in the lab and will have the chance to use state of the art lab equipment. He/she will also have the opportunity to acquire a diverse set of skills which will be employed in the study of cancer immunotherapies. These skills will include the performance of mouse bone marrow transplantation and adoptive T cell immunotherapy experiments, DNA engineering with CRISPR-Cas9, and cellular immunology techniques including flow cytometry. In addition to being trained in new and established immunological techniques and he/she will be given the opportunity to contribute to the fields’ understanding of the basic biology of T cell responses as well as the biology of cancer.
Responsibilities for this position include: (1) Basic and advanced molecular biology, for example, qPCR, cloning, transformation, production of retroviral vectors, gene editing and gene design; (2) The manipulation of mice for experimental purposes; (3) Scientific record keeping and data analysis; (4) Maintenance of laboratory equipment and management and QC of common reagents and materials
Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.
The candidate must be capable with training to perform the techniques and work described above.
Moderate physical effort required. May be required to stand/move for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
