Pathologist Assistant who provides Gross Room services for surgical specimens received at The Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University to include specimens from University Hospital, The James Cancer Hospital and the Ross Heart Hospital, OSU East Hospital, The Brain and Spine Hospital, James Outpatient Care Center, associated clinics and hospital-based community outreach centers; performs accessioning of specimens into laboratory information system; conducts intraoperative consultation responsibilities to include frozen sections, lymphoma workups, preparing breast specimens for fixation and working with surgeons to grossly assess margins and obtain appropriate orientation of complex specimens; performs gross exams of biopsies, routine regular specimens and several complex surgical specimens to include Whipples, mandibulectomies/maxillectomies, cystoprostatectomies, pelvic exenterations and bone/soft tissue tumor resections; performs procurement of excess tissue for research purposes; provides didactic training to pathology residents in gross description and intraoperative consultation responsibilities; could participate in autopsy rotation.
Schedule
Tuesday - Saturday, 2nd or 3rd shift. Alternative scheduling arrangements will be considered.
Rotating leave coverage at Adena Health System in Chillicothe, OH required.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Pathologist Assistant Program. Must obtain PA (ASCP) certification within one year of hire.
