The Systems Engineer will be responsible for driving strategy and delivery of complex Telephony projects. Responsible to lead work effort for ongoing critical projects in areas of Voice recording and Unified Communications. This person will be working closely with other technical specialists and architects, as well as security and compliance, deployment and production management specialists responsible for delivery of a secure, compliant and stable enterprise UC platform. Managing complex projects within company governance approval and ensuring successful implementation.

Essential Functions


  • Responsible for implementation and solutions delivery of Unified Communications products and enhancements based on current production deployments for Voice over IP and Digital telephony systems.
  • Perform mid to advanced level administration, implementation and troubleshooting of voice systems, dialers, call recorders and desk top platforms, and supporting infrastructure
  • Provide Planning, Design and Implementation throughout the install Lifecycle, including application and hardware upgrades, and solution optimization
  • Provide and maintain architectural documentation of telecommunications infrastructure and creating handover documentation to Service Operations
  • Troubleshoot network/VOIP problems, referring to vendors or technicians as appropriate
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining all aspects of the VOIP network infrastructure (i.e. Cabling- Racking/LAN/WAN/WLAN/VoIP)
  • Participate in multi-discipline design teams to provide solutions and capacity planning of equipment and VOIP network
  • Implement tactical plans to meet tight timelines and to ensure minimal disruption to the Customer environment providing world class customer service to internal and external customer
  • Provide VoIP and network incident and problem management
  • Assist with development of documentation for standards requirements within the department
  • Provide accurate, clear, concise documentation and assistance to service operations
  • Review and ensure accurate systems documentation is maintained throughout the course of the project
  • Excellent team player with ability to coordinate and cooperate with others
  • Host project meeting with key personnel to review project progress, publish status reports on a scheduled basis
  • Other relative duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications


  • High School Diploma, or an equivalent combination of education/experience
  • Current and valid US driver's license
  • At least 3-5 years hands-on experience deploying IP telephony solutions
  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug test

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Hands-on experience in Call control, IP routing, VOIP deployments and SIP Trunking are necessary
  • Experience with Cisco, Zultys, and /or Mitel is required
  • Routing and switching/data/voice networking skills preferred, including H323/SIP/ MGCP/MTP, etc.
  • Ability to analyze and design voice systems to achieve efficient and secure operation
  • Experience working in large enterprise voice networks is desired.
  • Ability to work under pressure and interface with senior management is critical

Physical Demands

Spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands and reaching. Spends approximately 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing. Frequent lifting required of items 25-50 pounds.

Work Environment

May be exposed to variable weather conditions. Other conditions may include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Worker may be subject to frequent heavy lifting.
