Title: Project GRAD/Pellissippi State Summer Institute Instructor (Temporary/Part-Time)

Campus: The primary position location for the Summer Institute is the Pellissippi State Hardin Valley Campus. Occasional field trips to other campuses and locations within and surrounding Knox and Blount Counties.

Work Hours: Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 2:30 pm; June 3rd - June 21st (dates are subject to change)
Position Summary: To create an engaging learning environment for rising 10th graders from Fulton and Austin East Magnet High Schools during the 2024 Summer Institute. The instructor will develop the curriculum, create hands-on stimulating content, and work with academy members to develop a motivating program in the content area.
Note: Pellissippi State Project GRAD Summer Institute is looking for instructors in each of the following subject areas: • Health & Public Service: Nursing, Forensics, Criminal Justice • Communications: Media Technology, Audio/Visual Production, Animation • STEM: Coding, Construction Management, 3-D Printing • Business: Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Culinary • College Success
Position Responsibilities: • Create curriculum for a three-week academic program in the designated subject area • Work collaboratively with other instructors to create a vibrant learning community • Develop a course syllabus, design, and teach from a daily lesson plan • Develop and evaluate measures to determine the student's level of comprehension • Provide motivational and classroom management techniques • Attend faculty/staff meetings associated with the Summer Institute • Design and accompany students on field trips and other activities associated with the Summer Institute • Maintain standards of conduct achievement appropriate for the Summer Institute

Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's preferred in education or related area • A minimum of three years experience teaching or working with high school students Note: Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% credit of full-time work experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics: • Experience teaching at the collegiate level is preferred • Must be creative, innovative, and highly energetic • Available to attend faculty/staff workshops and orientation • Ability to ride a school bus on field trips • Ability to work independently • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (i.e., Brightspace, Canvas)
