The Board of Directors of Historic Carson House is seeking applications for the position of Executive Director. Historic Carson House, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, owns and operates the Carson House Museum and the Jubilee Arbor event space located 3 miles west of Marion, N.C., on US 70. A 3,000 sq. ft. visitor center is currently under construction. The Executive Director has wide-ranging responsibilities including working with the Board, supervising other staff and volunteers, developing educational programs, community outreach, fundraising, grant writing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the museum. The museum is open April through November and the work schedule varies accordingly, approximately 40 hours a week for nine months and 10 hours a week for three months, totalling approximately 1560 hours annually. The salary range is $39,000 - $46,800 ($25 - $30/hr.). A university degree is preferred along with relevant experience in the field of public history or museum administration. A history of local community involvement is a plus.
