The Department of Mathematics & Statistics invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a start date of August 2025. This position will support the Data Science programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field (e.g., Data Mining, Machine Learning). ABDs are eligible to apply, but all requirements for the doctoral degree must be met by the start of employment (August 2025).
College-level teaching experience as a TA or instructor of record.
Demonstrated scholarly work in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or in a closely related area (such as data mining, machine learning, high-dimensional data analysis, and high-performance computing (HPC) with large data sets in modern statistics) through publications, doctoral dissertation, or technical report on the results from the development of doctoral dissertation, or research presentations at national/international conferences.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching Data Science, Statistics, or Mathematics, as the instructor of record.
Demonstrated research productivity through one or more publications in peer-reviewed journals in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or in a closely related area (such as data mining, machine learning, high-dimensional data analysis, and high-performance computing (HPC) with large data sets in modern statistics).
Experience seeking external research funding.
