The Sr. Accounting Assistant will support the assigned department(s) with fiscal duties, including budget preparation, account forecasting and financial analysis. This position will also be responsible for the management and oversight of all grant administration within the assigned department(s). This will include reviewing grant proposals, managing budgets and preparing financial reports prior to submission.
Monitor and clear open POs monthly
Submit change orders when needed to facilitate timely payment by accounts payable
Process invoices via accounts payable
Assist with account reconciliations monthly and at fiscal year-end
Aid Office Manager(s) with quarterly variance reports per account ledger
Process journal entries for interdepartmental fund transfers
Oversee telecom inventory and copy center monthly expenses
Assist faculty, staff and students with travel reimbursements
Train faculty and incoming staff on travel reimbursement policies and procedures, as well as, corporate card guidelines for reconciliations
Process all check requisitions, deposits, purchase orders and any other payment request from faculty, staff, or students.
Assist in the annual equipment certification process (sponsored/non-sponsored)
Lead contact on grant administration within the department
Develop budgets for grant proposals with principal investigators
Process no cost extensions (NCE) on expiring grants at the direction of principal investigators
Assist PI with advance account creation for proposed grant funding
Submit grant payroll allocations (summer pay and academic year effort) via workday for faculty/staff
Serve as liaison with Sponsored Programs
Supervise/hire office student assistants
Provides back up support for receptionist, including, deliveries/pickup
Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles.
Knowledge of budget control methods, policies, and procedures.
Ability to prepare financial and accounting records.
Ability to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data.
Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate accounting data and results concisely.
Ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget.
