Located within the soon-to-be-rebranded Newport Beachside Hotel, transitioning into The Sunny, this role offers a unique opportunity to be a part of the property's exciting evolution. As the Sous Chef, you will take a leadership role in crafting innovative dishes, ensuring operational excellence, and contributing to the ongoing success of ¡VIVA!'s story as we redefine South Florida hospitality.
Responsibilities
What You Will Be Doing:
Assist the Executive Chef in leading the kitchen team, ensuring smooth and efficient daily operations.
Contribute to menu creation, developing and refining recipes that showcase ¡VIVA!'s vibrant Latin-inspired flavors.
Train, mentor, and inspire team members to uphold high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.
Oversee inventory management, minimize waste, and achieve cost targets while sourcing premium ingredients.
Ensure every dish leaving the kitchen reflects ¡VIVA!'s commitment to exceptional taste, presentation, and timeliness.
Maintain a spotless and organized kitchen that meets all food safety and health regulations.
Qualifications
What We're Looking For:
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a high-volume, upscale dining environment.
A passion for Latin cuisine and a strong understanding of its flavors, techniques, and traditions.
Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a diverse kitchen team.
Expertise in inventory management, food cost control, and kitchen operations.
Commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience through culinary excellence.
Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred.
