Position Summary
As the Commercial Accounting Manager, you will report directly to the Sr. Manager of Finance and coordinate with all aspects of accounting operations. This pivotal role involves coordinating revenue recognition, reporting, billing, and collections for commercial projects, ensuring strict adherence to our high standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Drive financial performance by establishing performance-based metrics and collaborating with functional business partners to achieve desired outcomes.
Lead, mentor, and develop the commercial billing & collections team to support professional and technical growth.
Implement and maintain commercial revenue recognition procedures in line with Division, Group, and Corporate accounting standards.
Review and approve invoices for commercial contracts.
Ensure accurate revenue recognition across North American sites.
Project close-out processes with billing teams.
Act as a liaison between functional groups and your team to ensure timely billing and revenue recognition.
Support Business Leaders with reports that drive ongoing business strategy.
Maintain open communication with direct management regarding financial results, identifying risks and opportunities.
Assist managers with monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting, including audits.
Provide financial information for internal and external customers through monthly and quarterly business reviews.
Develop forecasting models, and conduct strategic analysis to support business objectives.
Lead the annual revenue budgeting process and monthly forecasting, collaborating with internal team members to meet financial commitments.
Reconcile intercompany revenue against billings to ensure consistency with matching principles.
Other duties as needed to meet business needs.
Basic Minimum Qualifications
Expertise in financial reporting, internal controls, forecasting, analysis, and technical accounting knowledge.
Strong business and industry knowledge with the ability to develop and implement robust accounting processes.
Demonstrated history of driving continuous improvement to achieve business outcomes.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Experience mentoring team members on effective presentation and analysis.
Ability to recruit, develop, and manage professional teams, providing constructive feedback.
History of leading cross-functional teams and forming relationships with peers and operating partners.
Dedication to ongoing learning and professional growth.
Expertise in applying GAAP and local company policy requirements.
Education/Experience
A four-year degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
3+ years of Finance or Accounting experience.
Understanding of the connection between business processes and accounting processes.
Equivalent experience such as CFA or MBA is acceptable.
Work Schedule
Core hours are 8 AM to 5 PM, with additional hours as necessary.
Potential to work holidays if they coincide with fiscal close week.
May be required to work non-traditional work weeks/hours (during fiscal close or holidays)
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $103,100.00-$154,700.00.
