The Safety Specialist will conduct day to day activities that are compliance, safety, or environmental related. This position will implement, manage and monitor safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements.

Responsibilities
Safety Specialist Responsibilities
Manage the site's Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) database.
Manage cross-functional teams in the implementation of safety and ergonomics programs.
Lead thorough incident investigations, identifying root causes and developing actionable solutions to prevent future occurrences.
Conduct and coordinate employee safety and environmental training programs.
Facilitate safety and environmental OE improvement opportunities.
Assist in coordinating internal emergency training drills for fire and severe weather.
Cultivate a proactive safety culture by engaging employees in hazard recognition and supporting adherence to EHS procedures and best practices.
Monitor employee activities and equipment to ensure compliance with ISO, OSHA, and company safety standards and procedures.
Provide environmental, health, and safety support, guidance, and oversight to manufacturing plant personnel
Perform indoor air quality assessments.
Champion for OSHA-required programs such as respiratory protection, hazard communication, hearing conservation, lockout/tagout, forklift, etc.
Support and comply with the company Quality System, ISO, and medical device requirements.
Create, read, understand, and follow work instructions and standard work.
Partner with other business segments as needed.
Understand internal and external customer needs and our core business markets.
Participate in required company meetings
Participate in Monthly Safety Committee, HAZWOPER, and First Responder meetings.
Maintain an organized work area (5S).
Participate in the Operational Excellence Program.
Complete all other work duties as assigned.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
Safety Specialist Qualifications
2 years of related experience
2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, or related discipline
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 or related Safety Certifications
Continuing Education; including participation in local chapters, associations, and/or organizations
