The Safety Representative drives safety-first culture. Provides technical safety support to assigned client groups.
Essential Functions
Monitors and maintains compliance
Develops current and comprehensive knowledge of all applicable state, federal and local health and safety regulations/laws/requirements affecting the business
Creates and files all required reports
Prepares reports for Safety Director
Develop annual internal audit schedule; conducts job site internal audits
Meets deadlines.
Develops and coordinates health and safety training
Identifies safety training needs
Ensures required training is conducted; develops an annual schedule
Assist in development of safety training curriculum
Audit older safety training materials for updating
Conducts new hire orientation and safety training
Drives workplace safety
Assist with the development of strategies, policies, and programs to instill a safe culture
Determines the appropriateness of introducing targeted safety initiatives
Assist with development of metrics for measuring the effectiveness of corporate safety initiatives
Stays current on safety programs and developments by maintaining contact with others in the field (e.g., professional association and educational groups, and professional development efforts)
Serves on or leads safety committees
Promotes safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters and specific training program
Investigates incidents
Conducts investigation and analysis of property damage/injury/illness/near miss reports
Identifies root cause of incident and implements corrective action
Completes required reporting
Acts as a liaison with medical personnel/insurance claims adjusters
Maintains highest levels of confidentiality
Communicates with internal/external customers.
Answers inquiries via phone, email, or in-person
Develops effective relationships with employees, peers and managers
Provides highest levels of quality and service
Demonstrates high levels of integrity and credibility through effective communication
Promotes and maintains personal safety
Exhibits safe work behaviors
Wears all prescribed PPE
Education Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Safety Management, Construction Management, related discipline, or equivalent work experience
Experience Qualifications
5+ years work experience in corporate safety department
Experience in heavy highway or industrial setting preferred

Performs data entry, alpha and 10-key numeric, on a keyboard
Uses copy/fax to scan documents
Drives a motor vehicle
May lift or move up to 10lbs
Travel Regular travel to job sites, customer sites, and corporate offices around the state is required; mostly day trips, but some overnight travel.
