We are seeking a full-time Product Manager Intern in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will assist our product management team to support the definition of new products by providing market research, profitability analysis, Voice of the Customer information and competitive analysis in a team-oriented environment.
Essential Functions
Work with product management team on researching and analyzing market data, requirements, and opportunities, and aggregating and interpreting customer and competitor trends for a comprehensive market share study
Assist the Product Management team to identify and champion the essential features required to make a differentiated and superior product
Understand the key requirements in the product concept and discern and reject features and products that are overburdened or are not useful to the target customer
Coordinate market research to track end-user feedback
Develop judgment regarding product usability and customer expectations via hands-on usage and observations of customers in real world situations
Learn and understand developing product cost and gross margin computations
Learn and understand how to evaluate opportunity cost-the cost of building one feature or product and what other features or products could have been built using the same time and resources
Learn and understand the various lifecycle phases: roadmap, concept, development, production and end of life in collaboration with Engineering, Operations, Sales and Marketing
Work collaboratively and professionally in a team environment with other Garmin associates to achieve goals and build superior products
Basic Qualifications
Completed coursework in a technical discipline OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Self-motivated and demonstrated sense of urgency, commitment and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion
Good written and oral communication skills to present data and product recommendations to engineering and marketing/sales management
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Desired Qualifications
Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
Active participation in Garmin's served markets
Previous boating experience
