The Student Involvement and Leadership Center (SILC) supports co-curricular life at Indiana University Bloomington. With that in mind, the SILC staff's principal responsibility is to advise, mentor, and prepare students (Indiana Memorial Union Board, student employees, etc.) to be responsible leaders in the execution of their obligations to the IMU and the university. The initiation and execution of co-curricular programs and services that support students, employees, alumni and university guests is a vital component of the SILC office.
Job Summary
The Programs Intern supports the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Indiana Memorial Union programs that include weekly Open Mic and Trivia series, Food Truck Fridays, holiday celebrations, Carnival, IU Day, and other programming events, etc. This role primarily creates new programming initiatives for the IMU and runs the weekly Open Mic and Trivia Series. As a member of a team, this position may collect entertainment resources, decorate the IMU, staff information tables, and be present at weekly Friday programs.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Plans and implements IMU Programs events each week including staffing each event.
Serves as the main point of contact for the Weekly Open Mic and Trivia series with performers, student organizations, and departments.
Establishes, with assistance from Program Coordinator, timelines for each weekly event.
Leads staff meetings with other managers.
Attends weekly 1:1 meetings with the Program Manager.
Provides administrative support in scheduling meetings, running errands, and follow-up on assigned tasks.
Assists with the planning and implementation of large campus wide events such as IU Day.
Oversees Event Assistants and student organization volunteers that support IMU Programs events each week.
Oversees marketing strategy, event outreach, event logistics and event budgeting.
Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Monday-Thursday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. (varies depending on class schedule)
