Position Summary
Athletic trainers must have knowledge of a large range of medical illness and injuries, as well as proficient evaluation, assessment, and rehabilitation skills
Ability to work with other healthcare professionals will be required.
Think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines.
Must be thorough and detailed with injury tracking and documentation.
Ability to communicate effectively in high stress/pressure situations when talking to patients, medical professionals, staff and families.
Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision.
Primary Position Responsibilities
Care and management of injuries and illnesses including: prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation.
Assess risk of injury, perform ergonomic evaluation and coaching, self-care implementation and overall wellness promotion.
Electronic documentation of all patient encounters.
Coordinate and implement injury prevention programs and customized preventative strategies and programs to each patient.
Minimize risk of injury through awareness, education and prevention strategies.
Communicate with physicians and coaching staff regarding the injury status of athletes.
Carry out medical care for assigned student-athletes per the sports medicine standard operating procedures.
Responsible for the implementation and coordination of the club sport athlete athletic training clinic hours, and other administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine.
Supervisor Responsibilities
Student workers and interns.
Education Required
Bachelor's degree from a CAATE accredited program required; Masters preferred in related occupational field of study.
Must hold or be eligible for Massachusetts licensure.
Experience Required
Preferred two years of college-level athletic training experience.
Must have current advanced life support/first aid certification, possess a valid driver's license and be cleared to drive College vehicles.
Skills and Abilities Required
Possession of NATABOC Athletic Trainer Certification
Effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
Ability to work with diverse populations, as part of a team, and collaborate with others.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, to maintain confidentiality.
Ability and desire to meet the irregular hours and travel schedule required by the position
Instructor for CPR/First Aid or interest in becoming an instructor

The successful candidate will have to complete a background check as a condition of employment.
This is a full time, 10 month a cademic year assignment. (Typically working August 1 - May 31)
