The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing all Echocardiography procedures at a level that will require no supervision of technical detail.
This position requires the employee to perform procedures using independent judgment with ingenuity, initiative and a complete understanding of anatomy, physiology, vascular pathology and Doppler principles.
Employee is expected to Provide 24 hour clinical examinations as needed.
The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing procedures in a safe, timely, accurate and cost effective manner within the scope of our patient population, by using the current ultrasound principals to aid the physicians in the diagnosis of adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist is Responsible for all documentation regarding Echocardiography procedures, process and documentation.
He or she stays compliant with prevailing requirements or practices, as well as with changes in JCAHO Standards, OSHA regulations and/or various state or federal statutes.
Accountabilities (Include Percent of Effort):
40% The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing all Echocardiography procedures. He/she Verifies patient's ID by checking all three identifiers (name, DOB, MRN)> Explains technical aspect of Echocardiography procedure to patient.
He/she is responsible for maintaining a good working relationship with physicians, nurses and other ancillary department personnel.
He/she coordinates patient flow, so that studies are done in an efficient and safe manner.
He/she provides procedure information, including patient's history to reading Doctor and assist in the reporting process by building up preliminary report on the reading system.
The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist assists staff; physician, cardiology Manager, Medical Director, and Departmental Administration as required with any issues that would help improve patient care, quality of work and daily cardiology lab operation.
40% The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist keeps work area clean, organized and free of clutter.
He/she maintains a professional demeanor toward patients and staff at all times.
Responds to changes in the work schedule as necessary: demonstrate flexibility in view of interruptions: function as a productive technologist, completing procedures in a timely manner.
The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for cleaning ultrasound equipment before and after every procedure.
He/she reports any equipment malfunction to bio-med and lead or Chief Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist.
He/she is responsible for the daily handling of Xcelera Systems, building up Echo reports, daily log, filling out billing procedure form and making sure all Echocardiograms are read on a daily basis.
5% Helps Orient, train, and evaluate new staff in the absence of the lead or Chief Cardiac ultrasound technologist.
5% The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist adheres to departmental policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
He/she will Keeps track of Supplies part level.
10% The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for reporting critical values to the Echocardiography reader.
He/she provides complete documentation of cases, including (Measurements) and follows study protocol.
Acquire and interpret pertinent clinical information from patient's EMR/physician orders, and maintain safety standards particularly to the age-specific needs of the patient.
Uses and adheres to the minimum necessary compliance standards for the following systems utilized to access permitted Protected Health Information (PHI): IDX; ECHO/PACS; Cane Care, Xcelera; KRONOS; Employee must adhere to PHI "minimum necessary" compliance standards at all times.

The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist Reports directly to Lead or Chief Cardiac ultrasound technologist, UMHC/SCCC Manger and Medical Directors.

Minimum Qualifications (Essential Requirements):
Graduate of a two-year AMA program approved by the committee of allied health education and accreditation.
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer R.D.C.S. (AE) A.R.D.M.S. American Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonographer or Registered Cardiac Sonographer R.C.S. (Cardiovascular Credentialing International).
Minimum 2 years of experience.
CPR Certification.
Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
Exhibit exemplary level of professionalism and leadership.
Possess superior organizational, oral and written communication skills.
