The Robert Larner, MD College of Medicine (LCOM) at the University of Vermont seeks to recruit a full-time Stroke Neurologist for a clinical faculty position participating in clinical care, teaching and research. This position is dually appointed at the University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC), a Level-1 adult and children's trauma center as well as a major referral center for the state of Vermont and upstate New York. The successful candidate will possess the necessary interests and skills to help expand an established high-quality clinical service. Fellowship training in Vascular Neurology is required and all applicants should be board-eligible/board-certified. Training in Neurocritical Care will also be considered.
At present, the program consists of three vascular neurologists, two neurointerventionalists, two vascular neurosurgeons, a nurse practitioner, two program coordinators, and a research coordinator. A clinical fellowship program in vascular neurology is planned for the near future. The UVM Stroke Program is a designated StrokeNet study site and offers telestroke services throughout the UVM Health Network
This position emphasizes clinical neurology and participation in LCOM educational programs while offering opportunities for clinical and translational research. The UVM research community has considerable strengths in cerebrovascular disease and stroke as well as vascular biology/biomarkers (hematological and radiographic), thrombogenesis, and the neuropharmacological control of cerebral vessels. Prospective candidates with research or teaching interests related to cerebrovascular disease, neurocritical care, epidemiology, outcomes and/or healthcare delivery are strongly encouraged to apply.
