Agronomy Specialist

Leads agronomy outreach and technical assistance work in the Connecticut River Valley of Vermont. Conduct an integrated and comprehensive educational and outreach assistance program in the areas of farm management, agronomic field crop production, and natural resource conservation practices to improve farm viability and surface water quality in the Connecticut River Valley. Major responsibilities include developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating outreach education and technical assistance programs provided to the local farming community in livestock, crop, soil, manure, and nutrient management and implementation of approved Best Management Practices to reduce soil and nutrient losses into waters of the state.
Bachelor's Degree in a field related to agriculture; two to four years of experience in developing outreach education and providing technical assistance in agricultural contexts; or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
Certified Crop Advisor status desired
$23.50 to $29.50 per hour
Position office location in the Extension St. Johnsbury Office.
Depending on final wage for top candidate, FLSA status may be exempt or non-exempt.
Position located in different city, Non-standard work hours required, Bargaining unit position, External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, Travel to and from worksites required, This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, Background Check required for this position
