Our SALT practice is made up of 70+ professionals across the U.S., providing a full spectrum of services including Income & Franchise tax, Sales & Use tax, Real & Personal Property tax, Unclaimed Property and Voluntary Disclosure & Remediation by industry needs. As a member of this talented team, you will help clients capitalize on strategic ideas and planning techniques that ensure state and local tax compliance, reduce expenses and enhance cash flow.

What you'll do:



  • Be a trusted advisor to middle market and Fortune 500 clients by providing strategic state and local tax consulting services that lower their tax rates, ensure they are in compliance and provide value across the spectrum of state and local taxes. This includes:

    • Prepare and file state & local sales tax returns for multiple clients in various jurisdictions


    • Assist in the research of state tax issues including nexus determinations, taxability analyses and quantification of potential liabilities


    • Help provide guidance to clients on various compliance matters including state tax return preparation, sales/use and unclaimed property


    • Respond to notices issued by state and local taxing jurisdictions


    • Work with multi-state companies to provide guidance on state and local tax controversies, including research and preparing written protests


    • Assist with due diligence and voluntary disclosure projects


    • Help prepare memoranda on state and local tax issues for individuals, corporations, partnerships and LLCs


    • Assist in the preparation of ruling requests and respond to state and local tax audits




  • Learn and grow from direct on the job coaching and mentoring along with participating in firm wide learning and development programs

Qualifications




Successful candidates will have:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or law preferred, or a related degree in business required


  • Sufficient course work and credits to sit for the CPA and/or bar exam in the state you are being considered


  • One (1)+ year(s) of experience providing State & Local tax compliance and consulting services in a public accounting firm preferred


  • CPA,CMI or JD/LLM preferred


  • Demonstrated skills in the areas of time management, communication, interpersonal skills, relationship building, collaboration, and problem solving


  • Strong leadership, project management, organizational and analytical skills, initiative, adaptability


  • Microsoft Suite skills


  • Experience with Tax research platforms such as BNA Tax, RIA Checkpoint, or CCH tax platforms preferred


  • There is currently no immigration sponsorship available for this position




The compensation range for this role is $62,730 to $110,760. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
