Position Summary:
The Logistics Coordinator supports general Logistic Department activities by coordinating specimen pick up, delivery and recovery. Assists as necessary or required in notification of services changes through direct interface with clients, couriers, client services, or Territory Business Managers.
Responsibilities:
Tracks specimen delivery and implements appropriate recover options when a service failure is identified
Provides necessary direction to ensure all scheduled specimens are picked up same day for next day delivery to laboratory
Maintains reports based on specimen recovery in pickup scheduling
Assists specialized client logistic support by obtaining pricing and arrangement of courier set up as needed or required
Updates Sales Force with communications regarding specimen deliveries, delays, changes in courier support, etc.
Sends out / email correspondence of daily specimen count, delays and tracking as notifications to Senior Staff, Territory Business Managers, etc., as required
Examines receiving documents for delivery destination
Recommends process improvements
Remains informed of all procedure changes pertaining to specimen transportation
Provides Accessioning support by performing quality assurance checks of incoming specimens
Responsible for new client setup completion and completing client supply requests.
Interacts with Territory Business Managers regarding courier service issues, client specific courier requirements
Assisting in promoting cost effective and efficient courier solutions
Attends department meetings and company in-service trainings to enhance knowledge on testing and systems
May assist on specimen filing and shipping.
Provide back up to Couriers and perform core responsibilities of such position as needed
Assists in the Accessioning process of incoming specimens throughout the day
Other duties as assigned by Logistics Supervisor/Manager
Experience, Educations and Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
3+ years of prior work experience in medical or customer service environment preferred. Experience in a clinical laboratory preferred.
Proficient with MS Office programs
Ability to communicate effectively
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ability, on a consistent basis, to stand during shift, excluding meal and rest period
Ability to move and lift 50 pounds and maneuver packages of any weight above 50 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person
Ability, on a consistent basis, to bend/twist at the waist and knees
Must be flexible and available based on staffing requirements; evenings, weekends, holidays, on call and overtime
Must be able to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment and maintain production and quality standards
Must be able to work in a biohazard environment and comply with safety policies and standards outlined in the Safety Manual
