We are currently looking for a Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in Decatur, Illinois.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership and direction to plant maintenance department responsible for repair, maintenance, installation of machines, tools and keep equipment in ready condition.
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety:
Champion safety through direct instruction and monitoring of employees.
Ensure that employees perform their tasks in a safe manner which is in compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
Manage the environmental program, including waste reduction initiatives and proper control and disposal of waste.
Quickly address and fix safety issues that need maintenance to repair.
Assist in the development and promotion of the safety program.
Quality:
Maintain the plant's equipment and facilities, including the accurate diagnosis of problems and the timely and cost effective repair.
Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
Identifies continuous improvement initiatives for equipment reliability and employee development.
On-Time Delivery:
Control operating budget to plan, including the investigation of cost effective solutions to machine and facility repairs.
Maximize productivity by effectively planning and executing work.
Identify opportunities to reduce costs by: improving processes, controlling labour and overtime, reducing waste and shop consumables.
Ensure time and materials are accurately reported.
Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation to ensure continuous production operations.
Cost:
Control operating budget to plan, including the investigation of cost effective solutions to machine and facility repairs.
Maximize productivity by effectively planning and executing work.
Identify opportunities to reduce costs by: improving processes, controlling labour and overtime, reducing waste and shop consumables.
Ensure time and materials are accurate.
Recommend, plan and implement any new capital improvements, including equipment and machinery.
Responsible to eliminate all causes of failure and ensure full useful life in coordination with daily maintenance completed by operating personnel.
Creates and manages the maintenance and stores budgets.
People:
Develop employees through coaching, mentoring and providing training opportunities.
Work with all levels of employees (hourly to management) and all departments to discuss and resolve maintenance issues.

QUALITIFCATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, industrial management, manufacturing preferred.
FIELD OF EXPERIENCE:
Two years of leadership experience.
Three to five years’ experience of supervisory, management and leadership role or similar level.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in the manufacturing, maintenance.
Background in manufacturing or rail industry preferred.
Experience in maintaining, repairing and installation production of equipment.
Strong knowledge of electrical, power supply, motors, PLC, air compressors and hydraulics is necessary.
Demonstrate strong and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a team environment and function as a team leader.
Posses strong interpersonal / communication skills with the ability to motivate others.
Demonstrate sound judgment under minimal supervision.
Must be responsible, attentive and detail oriented.
Able to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in an efficient manner.
Sound knowledge of MS Office standard programmes (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, and Access) and MS special programmes (MS Visio, MS SharePoint, MS Project).
PHYSCIAL DEMANDS:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or climbing.
Must be able to lift or handle up to 25 pounds at times.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Occasional travel may be required which includes walking, standing, sitting and driving from short to long periods of time.
