The Impact Finance & Markets division at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) provides technical and strategic leadership to create transformational impact with the private sector by translating the value of nature and conservation approaches into actionable, science-based strategies that can help solve societal challenges. The Science and Standards Portfolio Coordinator is a member of TNC's Corporate Engagement Science & Standards team in the Impact Finance & Markets Division. The Corporate Engagement (CE) team, one of four business units in the Impact Finance & Markets Division, provides technical leadership to translate the value of nature and conservation into actionable and standards-aligned strategies for agrifood supply chain companies.



WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Science & Standards Portfolio Coordinator will offer organizational, technical, and communications support on a diverse portfolio of programs the Science and Standards team members are leading or contributing to. This will require engagement across a range of topics in the agrifood nexus, including climate change, water and food systems resilience, improved livelihoods, biodiversity and nature, and conversion-free commodities.


The Science & Standards Portfolio Coordinator will fulfill a critical role by providing design and communication support for translational science products. They will help the Science and Standards team share scientific messages clearly with different audiences and will also ensure that all materials are presented in a consistent and high-quality manner. The Science & Standards Portfolio Coordinator will also address general team needs, such as coordination and preparation of meetings, agendas, and presentations, contributing to a cohesive and efficient work environment. Understanding the nuances of the portfolio will help drive the team's mission forward, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and fostering successful collaboration across the team members.


The Science & Standards Portfolio Coordinator will also coordinate outreach to companies, support specific corporate engagements, and occasionally lead sub-workstreams within a larger corporate engagement. Duties include daily contact with team members, including scientists and corporate relationship managers, as well as coordination across multiple state, regional, and country Conservancy programs. This position will provide team coordination services like building and facilitating internal networks and coordinating meetings, agendas, and presentations.

RESPONSIBILITIES and SCOPE

  • Assist with portfolio management to advance Conservancy activities related to food and water; providing coordination support to team members, including scheduling meetings, setting agendas, and tracking action items; and assisting with corporate research and engagement strategy development.
  • Design visually clear and appealing documents, presentations, and graphics for corporate and internal audiences.
  • Coordinate with the Corporate Engagement Science & Standards team to translate science into products for corporate partners.
  • Manage relationships and projects with minimal supervision.
  • Must be comfortable navigating a large, complex, and matrixed work environment (or something like this).
  • May supervise administrative staff and/or volunteers, interns, or temporary staff.


This position may be based in any country where TNC has an established entity and within 5 hours of US Eastern Standard Time, taking into consideration legal restrictions, such as non-national ratios and immigration processing times.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture, environmental, or business science-related field and 3 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience preparing reports of findings and materials for presentations.
  • Experience coordinating projects in a decentralized organization, working across teams,
  • operating units and functions to achieve optimal results.
  • Fluency in English.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree in an agricultural, environmental, or business science-related field.
  • Experience manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting statistical or environmental data.
  • Familiarity with and interest in topics including regenerative agriculture, livestock systems, supply chain action, corporate sustainability, and other related themes.
  • Experience reading scientific products and translating them for non-scientific audiences.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication, negotiating and organizational skills.
  • Design and marketing skills.
  • International experience and language skills.

SALARY INFORMATION

For U.S. based applicants only, the starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $60,000-$84,000 for annual base salary and is based on location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA.

For all other applicants, pay ranges will not be tied to the above pay range, will be based on location, will be in local currency, will be based on the local labor market, and will fall within a range based on factors including qualifications, specific skills, and experience.
