The Sr. Accountant reports into the Sr. Manager of Consolidations and is responsible for ensuring that the payroll accounting is completed timely and accurately. In this role you will help to ensure confidentiality and alignment to Cepheid policies and initiatives through accounting, monitoring, and reconciling the payroll data. You will be expected to be inquisitive, analyze trends, and proactively advise business on changes and risks. This role will also participate and support GL Team initiatives.



This position is part of the Consolidations Team and will be located in Santa Clara as an Onsite role. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.




In this role, you will have the opportunity to:



  • Prepare payroll entries for an employee base of approximately 4000 employees, prepare payroll and other compensation related accruals each month by the required due date, ensure the data is processed accurately and resolve discrepancies by working closely with the payroll team.

  • Own the incentive compensation accounting globally, distribute worldwide entries and ensure international accounting teams are following corporate guidance.

  • Reconcile all US compensation related accounts and actively resolve discrepancies and issues that could arise, taking necessary corrective actions with a process improvement mindset.

  • Prepare and provide periodic and ad-hoc projects, analytics, fluxes, and reports to the different finance stakeholders as requested.

  • Support audit requests (internal and external) and ensure SOX compliance by adhering to internal control requirements, and maintaining updated documentation as needed.





The essential requirements of the job include:




  • Bachelor's degree in accounting with 5+ years of related work experience OR Master's degree in field with 3+ years of related work experience.



  • 5+ years of accountant/analyst experience in a multinational organization

  • Strong analytics skills

  • Proficient in Excel with advanced experience using Functions, Pivot tables and V-Lookups



It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:




  • SAP or large ERP experience


  • Understanding of payroll process flows


  • CPA

The salary range OR the hourly range for this role is $93,600 to $135,000 This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.



This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
