Job Description Summary
The project manager will provide support the research, programmatic and professional activities of soon to be created Center for Community and Equity at the Abramson Cancer Center led by Dr. Carmen Guerra, Professor of Medicine and Associate Director of Diversity and Outreach for the Abramson Cancer Center.

Job Description

The project manager will be responsible for development the new center and maintaining all aspects of the center including cancer equity research projects (including program and research design, implementation, operations and evaluation; grant fund management; data collection and analysis, management and reporting; IRB submissions; and the coordination of study meetings); cancer care equity programs that increase access and quality of care across the cancer continuum - from cancer screening, prevention, treatment, clinical trials, survivorship and end of life care - for the diverse communities served by the Abramson Cancer Center and its network hospitals; workforce equity programs to diversify the cancer research workforce and create a culture of inclusion and belonging. In addition, project manager will help to support the integration of the activities of the Center for Community and Equity across six Abramson Cancer Center entities (Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Pennsylvania Hospital, Chester County, Princeton and Lancaster General Hospitals) to harmonize, catalyze and drive equitable cancer care and research across the entire the ACC Cancer Health System, workforce diversity/culture of inclusion efforts and community outreach and engagement.


The project manager will be expected to work independently in managing creating and evaluating programs, managing budgets and creating applications and budget proposals for future research and programmatic projects as directed by the supervisor. Should new research and funding opportunities arise, the project manager will assist in the preparation and submission of the grant proposals, drafting protocols, abstracts/posters. S/he/they will also help lead the implementation and coordination of strategic plan recommendations for the new center, prepare reports for leadership and sponsors and contribute to the writing of the results of the research and experiences of the center. In addition, the project manager will manage research and non-research staff (conducting initial and annual evaluations, performance management, etc.).



The project manager will be expected to work independently in managing and evaluating programs, managing budgets and creating applications and budgets for future projects as directed by the supervisor. Should new research and funding opportunities arise, the project manager will be responsible for the preparation and submission of the grant proposals. S/he/they will also help lead and coordinate strategic planning, prepare reports for leadership and prepare grant progress reports and contribute to the writing of the results of the research.




QUALIFICATIONS:



A Master's degree in a health-related field or 3-5 years of experience in a health-related field is required. The successful candidate will be extremely well organized and resourceful to achieve institutional goals, priorities and outcomes. The project manager must be quantitatively and analytically skilled, thrive in multi-tasking environments, and be a self-starter with a results orientation. Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office including Excel (including creating Pivot Tables), Word, and PowerPoint is required. The project manager will interact with a variety of faculty members, staff, trainees, and students throughout the center and school, and so strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills are essential. High accuracy, dependability, and attention to detail will be vital to success in the position. The project manager should have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
