The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Research Associate positions in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of advanced molecular and cellular biology, metabolism, physiology, and genetics. Expertly proficient in basic bench and wet labs skills. Understanding and experience in rodent breeding and handling is a plus. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.
Responsibilities may include designing, conducting, and analyzing data generated from independent basic research specifically focused on advancing knowledge of obesity, diabetes, and metabolism. A successful candidate would be expected to interpret and share findings informally in lab discussions and formally in discussion forums, talks, and conferences, as well as participate in relevant seminars.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to grow as an independent researcher in a collaborative environment with opportunities for mentorship. A successful candidate will be able to interact and potentially form collaborative opportunities with fellow researchers within the field, as well as have opportunities to present data to the scientific community.
